Dr. Ethelene Whitmire will discuss her new biography, Regina Andrews: Harlem Re-naissance Librarian. The book offers the first full-length study of Andrews’s sus-tained efforts to break down racial barriers, activism, and pioneering work with the New York Public Library. Whitmire is an associate professor in the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She was a Profes-sor in UCLA’s Graduate School of Education & Information Studies from 2004-2006. Her areas of research include information seeking behavior of undergraduates and the library’s impact on undergraduate critical thinking skills acquisition.Haines Hall 135
