Shena is a third year Ph.D. student in the UCLA School of Education and Information Studies. Her research and scholarship center on the ways in which education policies and practices are racialized and gendered. She focuses primarily on the academic experiences of urban Girls of Color from low-income backgrounds, particularly with respect to their college-going trajectory. Shena received her master’s degree in international education policy from the Peabody College of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University and her bachelor’s degree in English literature from Roanoke College.”
