Jonathan E. Collins is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Political Science at UCLA, where he studies urban politics, democratic representation, and racial and ethnic politics. Collins has been a professor of Politics at Pomona College. Collins is a research fellow for the Loyola Mary-mount University Center for the Study of Los Angeles, as well as a survey data analyst for national public opinion polling firm, Latino Decisions. The recipient of numerous research fellowships at UCLA, Collins has published research in academic journals including the Harvard Journal of African American Policy and Local Government Studies. Collins also serves on the Hollywood Studio District Neighborhood Council, and he is an executive board member for the Black Los Angeles Young Democrats. He holds a BA in English from Morehouse College and an MA in African-American Studies from UCLA. Most recently, Collins has been awarded the Brown University Presidential Diversity Postdoctoral Fellowship, which he will begin in the fall of 2017.
