What’s All the Construction About? AAP Getting Room to Grow!
UCLA’s Academic Advancement Program (AAP) has been in Campbell Hall for more than 40 years. AAP serves the needs of first-generation college students, historically underrepresented groups, women and transfer students with programs in academic counseling, mentoring and tutoring, as well as specialized programs focused on research, teaching, health, art and social justice. Thanks to a new learning pavilion now being built outside of Campbell Hall, AAP will have room to expand its programing and support the needs of an even larger group of students.
Charles Alexander serves as director of AAP and is associate vice provost for student diversity in UCLA’s Division of Undergraduate Education. Alexander and AAP have collaborated with the Bunche Center on programming in the past, including the annual Black Convocation, which will be held again this fall. Black Convocation welcomes new and returning students to the campus, makes them aware of the wide variety of valuable programs, groups, and resources available to serve them, and provides them with encouragement on their academic journey.
