January 24, 2013 –UCLA social psychologist Phillip Atiba Goff contributed to the new anthology, Pursuing Trayvon Martin: Historical Contexts and Contemporary Manifestations of Racial Dynamics (Lexington Books, 2012) edited by George Yancy and Janine Jones. January 23, 2013 Two Bunche Center affiliated faculty members are participating in the inaugural lecture celebrating the opening of The UCLA Center for Bridging Research Innovation, Training and Education (BRITE) for Minority Health Disparities Solutions. The lecture, “The Art of Polling in the Era of Social Messaging: Using Technology of the 2012 Obama Reelection for Overcoming Health Disparities,” will be given by Cornell Belcher, Pollster for the Obama Reelection Campaign, Obama 2008 Campaign and DNC President, Brilliant Corners Research & Strategies. April 11, 2012 Bunche Center Director Dr. Darnell M. Hunt, and historian and Bunche affiliated faculty member, Dr. Scot Brown, received an Academic Advancement Program Faculty Recognition Award on Wednesday, April 11th from the UCLA Academic Advancement Program (AAP). As part of AAP’s 40th anniversary year-long celebration, AAP honored UCLA faculty who have made substantial contributions to the education of AAP students and who have provided support for the social justice mission of AAP.
April 21-22, 2012 Among the 2011 award presenters at the 17th Annual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is UCLA English Professor and Bunche Center affiliated faculty member, Harryette Mullen. Dr. Mullen will present the 2011 Los Angeles Times Book Prize for poetry. General Festival admission is free.
December, 2011 Bunche affiliated faculty member and UCLA Professor of Sociology and Education Walter R. Allen visited Tel Aviv as a Fulbright Specialist. Dr. Allen participated in a lecture series at the Mofet Institute, a nonprofit center for the research and development of teacher education programs.
